Lesson Details
Our Trolly Problem lesson provides immersive scenario-based learning for a popular philosophical problem. Learners are put in control of an emergency situation where they must choose to either stand idle and have a group of workers killed by a train; or change the track and have a bystander on the other track hit instead.
Engaging users in the virtual representation of this moral dilemma allows first-person, repeatable experience of the problem to facilitate discussion. Engaging in philosophical intricacies in the virtual environment allows resolution of the long-existing issue of the gap between what people say they would do, and what they would actually do when in the situation.
