Monte Alban Field Trip
History
Lesson Details
Journey across the world and back in time to one of Mexico’s most sacred archaeological sites. An early city of Mesoamerica, Monte Alban is a UNESCO World Heritage site of anthropological and historical significance. Begin with a bird’s eye view to understand the layout of the main plaza. Or explore the real detail of carved stones featuring Zapotec glyphs.
Effortlessly manipulate multi-tonne carved stones to virtually recreate a building façade adorned with some of the earliest writing. Researchers can experiment with ethnohistory by exploring unresearched stone configurations to create new narratives in the virtual.
