In our Disease Diagnostics Lab, students are given access to a virtual lab space where they run a qPCR experiment on the Zika virus. Through the power of immersive technology, students can develop notoriously tricky yet essential skills, like handling pipettes and the associated laboratory equipment.

Carrying out the sample preparation and PCR process in a virtual environment affords learners unlimited opportunities to practice and improve their practical lab skills. As well as linking practical and theoretical understanding, students have the opportunity to safely engage in scenarios that would otherwise be too dangerous for them to encounter in a traditional educational context.
